The Spin, The Strive

To watch the news, the spin, the strive to live, and be live at five.

Seems like homeless is the new black. Perhaps it is a recovery from years of black, being the current homeless. Each day an uplifting story about a homeless man who does well hits the news. People eat this up like sugar in soda, yet no one seems to get hip to the fact that these people are homeless in the first place. Only in America can a homeless man with a voice of gold, win millions in a football pool...only in America can a man have one bad break and be crippled financially, with no hope of recovery...except maybe a football pool.

Save That Drama...

Go on now...save that drama for yo' mama!

I once saw a homeless man wearing a poppy. The poppy is a symbol of freedom, and those who fought in the war, to protect it. Seeing a homeless man, proudly displaying a poppy to preserve the memory of a man, who fought to give him everything he has...even if that "everything" includes a life on the street..is a striking vision.

Sometimes I feel guilt for shopping at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. The idea of buying something that I want, and taking it out of the hands of someone who may need it, bothers me.

I want to set you in flames.

I want to set you in flames. Make you scream out my name. Let you burn in my pain.

Today was the type of day that carves my destiny into my flesh. From the start, the day was wrenching, awkward, painful, dull, boring, and relentless. Each task was met with a challenge that taxed my mind and my patience. I left footprints in the snow. I shouldn't be complaining, since one day I may be on the wrong side of the sod.

Understanding the undertones is the essence of living life in reality. Look at everything around you and appreciate it for what it is, and not always what it can be. I am not saying that people should not strive for improvement, but rather stride toward it. The best way to understand the possibilities, is to be familiar with the capabilities.
